The Brainchild of the Robotic Vacuum Cleaner
If you are curious about how the robotic vacuum cleaner came to existence, you should know about a man named James Dizon came up with the idea of the world’s very first automatic vacuum cleaner. The concept James presented caught the attention of Electrolux, a famous Swedish appliance manufacturer. They saw the potential in the concept and purchased the invention. This led to the birth of “Trilobite” which is the first-ever functioning robot vacuum cleaner in the world. Though this incident was somewhat of a high and sensational occasion, it didn’t last long because of the machine’s incapacity to avoid collision with other objects in the vicinity and the inability to leave the area cleaned thoroughly. This led to the discontinuation of the device.
The Continuation of the Dream
After the halt, a company from Britain, Technology Company Dyson, came up with its own version in 2001 and they named it “DC06”. The company didn’t continue to produce the unit because it was too expensive, hence, it was never mass-produced. Another year passed and an American advanced technology company named iRobot launched their version of the product and named it “Roomba”.

There were even some battery-operated robotic vacuums that were not able to function longer which still made people resort to traditional vacuum cleaners.
After a phase that led to lesser investments and allocation for research and development of robotic vacuum cleaners, Dyson came out strong with another breakthrough in 2014. This was in the form of a robotic vacuum cleaner that was equipped with a 360-degree camera placed on top of the device. This improved the navigation ability of the device and was also complemented by a more powerful suction ability as compared to the previously released models.
At this point, other manufacturers started to improve their own variants and came up with better battery systems and finally, smartphone technology for versatility and better control.
